Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities
- Each volunteer must be dedicated to provide his/her services on a regular basis to ensuring that the Parktrot will grow from strength to strength as we go forward.
- Must be a very confident and experienced rider who can handle various challenging situations on horseback.
- Must be approved by the owners of Colin’s Horseback Africa.
- A First Aid certificate would be an asset.
- Working hand-in-hand with the Parktrot Event Director (also a volunteer), other volunteer marshals, the Trot Master and the Tail Rider to ensure a seamless event.
- Setting up and taking down the equipment before and after the event.
- Registration Coordination where you will make sure that all participants have signed indemnity forms.
- Riding on one of the Horseback Africa horses in a helping capacity on the Parktrot.
- Ensuring that riders are fully aware of the challenges involved during the event, and helping where necessary to assist visiting horses to face challenges.
- Marshalling to guide event participants on where to park horseboxes and trailers.
- Be responsible for noting any concerning incidents before, during and after the event and informing the Parktrot Event Director accordingly.
- Manage the Equipment - you need to ensure that all the equipment is properly packed away and stored after the event.
- Finishing Coordinator where you will be responsible for the smooth operation of ensuring horse safety whilst riders are enjoying a breakfast.
- Photography where you may be assigned as a photographer to take photos of the event. Photos are to be sent to the Event Director for use on social media.
